A new approach for the Home Caregiver whose loved one has suffered a Stroke, Brain Aneurysm or Brain Trauma
With all the advances in medical science, its hard to believe that ordinary folks like you and me are charged with rehabilitating broken brains at home, after the insurance (all too quickly) runs out.
So, how do YOU rehabilitate a damaged brain?
Nobody I knew (including my friends who were medical professionals) could give me a solid answer to that question when my best friend, Eve, barely survived a Level 5 brain aneurysm in 2001. Four months later, she was sent home--the shell of a functioning human being.
The social services folks recommended that I just save myself. There was little I could do for my friend. Time would do the healing; not me.
But I couldn't run away--at least at that time. I had to give caregiving a try.
However, I had no clue as to what I could do. Supposedly there is only a two year window for recovery and year one was slipping away. If Eve was making progress, I sure couldn't see it.
So in desperation, I developed my own home-based rehabilitation plan. You can read about it on this website; but it’s described in detail in my book. (No you do not have to buy a book from me; it's in most libraries).
Anyway, my evolving approach worked for us. Perhaps it will work for you. At the very least, it may give you some ideas on how to develop your own brain rehabilitation plan for your loved one.
